Deep drop Perth
Submitted by kuzi on Tue, 2020-12-29 09:18
Hi All,
Looking to head out tomorrow from Ocean Reef. Depending on how good the conditions play out I'm hoping to try deep drop here in metro waters for the first time. Not after any spots just some general advice around baits, depths etc? I have electrics and most gear including a FCV295 with 2kw trannies set up so hoping I'll be able to find some shows of fish.
Thanks in advance. Kuzi.

Never done more than 200
Never done more than 200 myself but read up on it and seen it on tv and you tube. Big baits like whole herring or similar or load up the hook with squid . A flashing light will also help but make sure you have plenty of weight as the current can be quite strong and heavy line .

Complete balls up
Conditions were very average especially past direction bank. Managed to find some shows on the sounder in about 260m and dropped on them. Swell, wind and current made it very uncomfortable and difficult to hold bottom. Had a hit and lost 2 out of the 3 baits. Will head back to the spot again whenever the weather plays fair again.

Edges
in that depth shark1 are you see drop edges or ground?. Reason I ask is I have a 1kw so 260m I probably max out at. I may see drop off edges but ground I may struggle with any deeper.
