Demersal soft plastic virginity lost

Gave some Berkeley gulps a go out FFB this morning, think I've been converted.

Got a 54cm pinky and a 42cm Duhie pretty happy with the result for my first time useing them to target Demersals :-) and yes the Dhuie went back fine:-)

Well ive never tried hard enough out wide, so perhaps i should.

Were you at anchor? The head weight looks kind of small. Did you da any tricky lift or just bobbed them up a meter and back down a meter?

 Was drifting with a sea

Fri, 2014-02-14 15:05

Was drifting with a sea anchor out light easterly so was very slow drift and only in 12m of water, jig head was 1/2oz casting around cray pots, twitching it back a bit then let it sink again, till retrieved back to the boat.   Might have to get some of these Mcarthys, think il be giving the bait a miss more often now.

The gulps work good at night, wrasse maul them during daylight hours. Good work, youre hooked now, always good when a plan comes together

McCarthy's...

Sun, 2014-02-16 01:51

...Tuckey's might have them, pretty sure BCF and Getaway DON'T in Mandurah. The 5 inch Zman jerk shads also work very well for this style of fishing, and they are more widely available.

And Complete Angler Rocko DOES have a decent range of McCarthy's. Gulps are proven catchers, no doubt, but the stink and the tendency to dry out if left on the hook/packet not sealed, plus being easily destroyed by wrasse/blowies...just the same as bait, imo.
