Did It!
Took the Mrs and the kids out for a troll in and around the Dawesville Cut today and started out trolling up the cut with the kid's twisties out for no joy. After the bridge we chucked out the 140mm Stradas and sped up heading out the rough water at the heads and down to Falcon and back for no joy.
Made our way back in and I managed to hook a squid on an Ecogear SX40 casting into the rocks.
Decided to keep the Ecogear on my 1-2kg Drunken Monkey with 1000 Rarenium and 6lb braid and troll up the Cut for some hezza when line started to peel off the same as it did 2 weeks ago and I knew I was into a Salmon and my chance at redemption.
I tightened the drag up straight away and managed to turn him and this time the wind was in my favour blowing me towards him. Several huge leaps in front of an entertained crowd on the jetty and it was ON!
The Drunken Monkey punches well above its weight and what resulted was a battle of wits with me moving from side to side, gaining 10m and losing 8.
After around 10 mins we started drifting towards rocks so I gave the Mrs the rod while I drove us back out and she did a great job for someone who's only ever caught bread and butter fish before.
She fought hard for a good 8 mins but gave up and it was time for me to bring it home. I knew he was getting tired but I just couldn't get him withing reach so played him for a good 5 mins and finally tired him out and got him in the boat for a pic and then a release.
Officially off the Pies bandwagon

Very good write up and pics
Thanks for the good write up and good pics, it makes you feel good when you can release a good sporting fish and know it has a very good chance of giving another person the same thrill you had.
Well that's how I feel about catch and release any way.
