Differences 2003 - 2012 Merc 60hp 4 stroke

Hi all,

Still researching my (hopefully soon) boat purchase. I have been looking at a few boats with a 60 Merc 4 stroke fitted, one I really like is 2012, another is a 2003. Other than the age and hours run, are there any major differences between the two year models ? Have done a bit of hunting around and cant find much out.

Thanks in advance for your replies,

Cheers

Dane

Carby and fuel injected

The early one will have carbys and the newer one will be fuel injected.  Fuel injected is much better after having both.  Start better, run better and no carby issues. The carby ones can be a nightmare if not run regularly.  If you do buy the carby one take it for a good run and make sure it runs sweet over the whole rev range and starts easily.

Thanks for your reply mate. Both are efi motors (maybe it is a newer motor than the owner thought). I will do a closer check before purchasing. Is that the only real difference between them?

Cheers, Dane
