Dongara
Hey guys, I'm most likely heading up to Dongara for the first time in mid december. I was wondering whether anyone a bit more familiar (or local) could let me know what the conditions are like around this time.
I've done a bit of reading up on spots like the 7 and 9 mile beach as well as the s bend but im still not sure whether they have signs or whether they're just nicknames for spots. Could anyone she some light or give me some pro tips?
I've just bought my first 4wd too and im pretty keen to have a bit of fun with her =D Any local 4wd tracks or recommendations?
Also, should i stock up on bait down in perth and bring it up or should i just bring up plenty of beer?
Last question, any good spots for free diving for crays from the shore?
Cheers fellas

Hey Paul!
Great part of the coast.
To answer a few of your questions.
December is usually windy as along that bit of coast. Fishing can be good, and can be quiet. Dongara rock wall produces good tailor and is good option on a strong SWer. Any of the beaches north of the rockwall (Irwin River mouth, infront of Sea Spray Holiday Park) can produce good tailor, herring, mullas and sharks. Just got put in the hours. For beaches on the drive north, yep, 7 mile is easy to find, 9 mile isn't sign posted, then theres Flat Rocks, S-Bends and Lucys. Just got to explore to get to them. The sand dune tracks can be quite boggy so have the right gear to avoid being stranded.
Plenty of bait available in Port Denison, so wouldn't bother really.
Heaps of spots for free diving for crays from the shore. The lagoon just before the marina and then theres some inshore reefs north of the marina. All bound to be highly stocked.
All the best!
