Maylands ramp was heaving to the point I didn't attempt a solo launch as there was no where to tie up my boat. Any advice on general areas for trolling for the choppers and what speed?

5-8 knots. Try Applecross and Melville waters near the sides of the drop offs. Wankers continue to park their cars in the boat bays at Coode st and there were buses parked in the rig up/down bays. Just need to get there early I guess.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

gday Andy
Plenty of time at work, not that much time for anything else , have pulled some nice bream out of the river around Bayswater, always enjoy that challenge. Could always be worse - was nice reading this post - I got my fishing bug as a young fella with dad catching tailor trolling around Blackwell reach - really fond memories those

I am keen to get into some tailor trolling with my deckie (4 year old) who loved trolling for reddies at Waroona last month, any advice on productive times would be great as I thought it has to be as the sun was rising/setting but it looks like you guys are doing ok in relative daylight.

Hi Jack, yeah we didn't hit the water until 10.30am. But I reckon if you get out early the bite would be better. The lures are $10 Kmart cheapies the gold worked the best.
