Dragonfly 7 - Transducer issue

G'day Dragonfly owners,

I have recently purchased a boat with a Dragonfly 7 fitted, I have noticed that the transducer bracket has a couple of mm play, which translates to about 5mm movement at the end of the transducer. Wobbles like a bastard. Obviously I haven't been getting great readings and losing everything at about 15 knots. This transducer appears to have a fairly unique bracket/mount system, I have had a fiddle with it, but can't for the life of me see how to tighten up the part the holds the transducer itself into the bracket. Those that own have one of these will hopefully understand. Any ideas? I'm half tempted to stick the bracket hard to the hull with adhesive... Fibreglass boat. Any comment or ideas gratefully received!

Hey mate, mine had the play also but it wasn't a problem . I would recommend you contact Raymarine customer help centre, they were very helpful for me with some power issues a while ago.

Quick release

The play will be in the quick release part of the bracket. They designed these to click up out of the way when or if you hit something.

To reduce the play you tighten the hex head bolt that adjusts the tightness of the quick release. If looking at the transducer from the top you see the screw. You may also find if this is a loose fitting, the transducer can kick up while at speed and drop back into place when you stop but you would see this as no real picture and wouldn't come back until the transducer can point down again. When tightened it will still have some wobble but it doesn't affect the performance.

When I was using CPT-100 with the a78 I could still track bottom at 25 knots. These transducers work well when set very low.

Many thanks for the info and suggestions, I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, will be a weekend job, let you know how I get on. Having done more research on the net it seems to be normal to have that much play, but still doesn't seem right!! Cheers
