This configuration is OK but it is possible that you will drain the starter battery using accessories.

I would connect accessories via a breaker to battery 2 +ve only not to the common side of the switch.

If you need to power accessories from the starter battery, then you can do so by switching to BOTH.

Better option is this one here:

Basically, Switch 1 for Starter battery to Engine, Switch 2 for House Battery to Accessories, and Switch 3 for combining both batterys to both Engine and Accessories.

Agree with John - Isolate the starting battery and set VRS to always charge starting battery first.

Hi

I am confuse now.  Isnt the VSR supposed to isolate the starting battery when it fall below certain voltage? As for Battery 2 it connected to B2 of the switch not common.

Sorry really new to this

vsr

the vsr should always charge the starter battery (batt 1) and switch to charge batt 2 when it senses the volage drops when it reaches

full charge will switch back to trickle charge batt 1, next time you start if batt 2 needs charge thats what it will do then back to batt 1

That what i wanted the VSR to do.  Charge batt 1 and switch to batt 2 when it senses drop in voltage.  Does my setup cater for that or do i still need to put an isolator?

The VSR protects the 'Starting' battery from been drained by accessories while engine is off, then allows both batterys to be charged while engine is running.

not sure on your diagram

you seem to have your accesories positive connected to you ignition AND it seems commoned to the engine positive your

accessories should just connect to the battery 2 positive nothing else mine is that way, it means your switch panel is always live

but you can overcome this by adding another isolalor or breaker to switch off the accessories when not in use.

and yes your setup will do that you just need to change your accessory wire as I stated.

just as an after thought my VSR is a bep one with 3 way battery switch and has to have a negative connected to it

You don't need an isolator....

Just don't connect the switch COMM terminal to both the engine and the accessories.

Unless you enjoy waiting around for the gps to reboot and find a fix everytime you start the engine.

The 4 way switch and VSR are from BEP, just that i forgotten to include the negative in the diagram.

Thanks I will move the accessories +ve terminal to B2 in the switch.
