dunsborough

Gday fellas

I am going to be in dunsborough next weekend and i am tossing up wether to take the boat,

If i do is there a suitable place to launch a 6m ali boat in dunsborough. I have a 4wd hilux to launch it with.

I have been looking at my charts and it looks like there is a few good rises along the 30m line strait out past the wreck. Would these be worth a go/ or would i be better off heading out to wrights bank off the point and looking for rises and lumps around there?

Will be chasing any demersals really and maybe have a crack at squid.

Hi Mate

I went down to dunsborough over the xmas holidays.

We launched my whitley 2100 from the quindalup boat ramp no worries, it is a semi beach launch but had no problems with it. Launched it with a cruiser and a dodge nitro no dramas.

We fished wright bank early one morning (bottom bouncing) for very little reward, saw a few bait fish around so decided to troll. Troll the countour lines around and over the bank. Cleaned up on oriental bonito and had a few SBT mixed in also.

Only ever fished down in dunsborough the once, so not of great help. I think wright bank has some fairly serious fishing pressure placed on it, due to being so easily accessible to small boat anglers.

Dunsborough

Wed, 2013-03-27 11:51

 Hi Jayce.

This weekend means Easter.  Means salmon. Means lots of boats trying to launch at both ramps.  I haven't been of Dunsborough since moving to Perth in 2007, but I remember the Old Dunsborough ramp as being a bit of a challenge.  There used to be lots of rocks in close which can be a problem with any sort of easterly.  There is no beach on either side of the ramp, so you have to be patient and wait your turn out deeper when retrieving.  Quindalup ramp is closer to the artificial reef but a lot further to go to Wright's Bank.  Quindalup is a beach ramp with a finger jetty.  Can be a bit of a problem some times to get enough water under the boat and you may have to get the hilux wet.  Both ramps get hammered at Easter and unfortunately, sometimes might is right and you can get some of the bigger boys pushing their way in.

Good luck anyway.

Baz

I was down Dunsborough last week and they have dug out the Old Dunsborough ramp, looks like they are doing it up.

I doubt it will be done by Easter so Quindalup will be twice as busy, good luck.

 THE old Dunsborough ramp

Thu, 2013-03-28 06:07

THE old Dunsborough ramp (fish rock) is getting a finger jetty put in. Will make launch/retrieve a lot easier but there isn't a lot of parking space there.

The Quindalup ramp has just got a new overflow car park. Heaps more room for parking in the busy times. The ramp gets dug out pretty regularly now. Still propably need a 4WD for bigger boats though.

As for the fishing don't worry about Wrights bank its been hammered. Go a couple of kms NW of it and there is a heap of ground that you can't miss. Locals call it the supermarket.

Any body else going to be out

Mon, 2013-04-01 21:55

Any body else going to be out in dunsborough on friday? Not sure what ramp we will be leaving from but will be early friday morning and hopefully in around lunch.

If you see a Yellow boat with a white hard cab floating around feel free to come say g-day i promise i wont accuse you of pinging or throw sinkers at you. Haha you can ping the spots if you want but we probably wont catch fish any way so you will just be getting dud ground.
