Dunsborough

Hey Fishos, im heading on down to dunsborough with a bunch of mates at the start of Nov. We've got a house located pretty central near the shops, about a block from the beach.

Im planning on catching some whiting off the beach right near the house on prawns and poppers, any tips? also if anyone know if theyre around?. Also, does anything bigger hunt the waters there? Is it worth chopping a whiting up and putting it on a heavier rig or live baiting in the same bay? Ive been thinking of wading/walking/swimming out to the sandbar and throwing off there if anything will bite

Also since im with a bunch of mates who dont fish much i need some where to take them where we can throw a few beach rods off the beach with some pilchards or squid on the end, drink a few beers and swim and have a shot at bringing in something more interesting.

None of us have 4wds but a bit of a walk wouldnt bother us too much.

If anyone has some advice I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers

should be whiting off all the beaches easy enough.. ive never caught one on popper yet but bits of prawn or mulie are great .. for your bigger stuff head south to wyadup rocks or a bit more south for something to stretch ya arms .. the odd sambo or ytk can be caught off the rocks and small sharks off the beaches down that way .. gear up heavy if you want to play with them .. but youll get good herring . whitting. tailor as the sun drops .. just watch the swell if your on the rocks

Dunsborough Options

Gday PT,

As the weather heats up, the flats around Dunsborough will start to fire with the Sand and Yellowfin Whiting. A great style of fishing, like all sight casting is. Throw in Herring by the dozen, Flathead, big Flounder and the odd Tailor, and it is a great session on the light gear. As Antman said the Tailor have been thick, with all beaches producing good numbers and nice sizes. Whether you want to flick lures or soak baits, they have been playing the game. With that said they may drop off so make sure you drop in and we can point you in the right direction. The other factor is swell. There are some fantastic beach and headland spots on the West Coast where the size of the fish are generally larger than the bay, and species such as Samson Fish, Yellowtail Kings and sharks are a regular occurrance. Look forward to seeing you in the shop when you get down, make sure you let us know who you are and we will take care of you.

Cheers,

Zac@dunsboroughoutdoorsportz

Sand flats

If you get a really still night, it's good to grab a couple of scoop nets, a torch and a gidgie and walk along the shallows for crabs and cobler. It's pretty good fun with a few beers.
