Dyneema braid or Spectra fibre braid, whats the difference which is better?

After my line catching on a tree on the way to the ramp and getting there with an empty spool i am now in need of some new 37kg braid for my Jigging outfit, looking around on the net I see there are a few different choices.

Could anyone please advise me on what the difference is and what is better for my needs.

Cheers

Justin

They're the same thing,

They're the same thing, UHMWPE (Ultra High Mollecular Weight Poly-Ethylene). Basically two brand names for the same thing. Which is best depends who you talk to :p Both will be available in different grades, so just because two lines are made with fibres from the same factory, doesnt mean the lines will the same. As well as strength per diameter, braids will vary in weave patterns, coatings, markings, etc.

If you're looking for a braid, its best to look at the individual lines and not their constituent fibres.

How much do you want to pay, how smooth do you want the line to be and do you want depth checker markings?

Keep in mind, when you test

Keep in mind, when you test it, you need to be really careful how you test it. The rating is without knots (though if you use a good one like a bimini, you can get 90% IF you tie it right), and any shock loading, abrasion or heating (like when tieing a knot) can weaken it. Otherwise you get people saying they're crap because they broke under what they are rated at :p. Just need to understand how they are rated ........ or buy fireline, lol.
