Cox was on fire, his taps to Kerr and his communication around the stoppages were insane. Big Nat and Embley were great as well.
I'm still not convinced with Ebert, he does some good things then he cock it up, turn it over by foot etc.
great signs though, I'm stoked

barlow did have a cracker of a game. Now mundy with a broken leg too!
Mate eagles looking the goods, easily top 8 this year, question will be can they push top 4.
They should get up quite easily this weekend over port, which puts them what 3 games away from making the finals!

Don't get too excited lads
Wet Toast are only doing well against bottom 8 teams. Only top 8 side they've beaten was the Shockers.
Yes, they're playing a hell of alot better than last season but talk of home finals and premierships is just a little premature don't ya think.
On a personal note it was good to see the Hawks push the Cats all the way (should've won) but bloody hell do we really need any more injuries

your hawks played some good
your hawks played some good footy the other night but have to disagree with should've of won. i'll change that for you to" would"ve won" if Buddy didnt take a dive and just played good strong footy and marked the ball. That diving crap is S##t house in footy and it cost the hawks the game. There was no push in the back there.
And yep now all the eagles have to do is beat some top 8 teams to proove we are the real deal.

Yep,
probably fair enough but unlike most football supporters i don't think games are won and lost in the last minute by umpiring decisions.
Hawks should've held on for the win when they were in front by 17 at 3/4 time. You certainly can't expect to win when you don't score a goal in the last qtr.
I think losing Roughhead was the nail in the coffin, shame they couldn't lift and get up in response.
Be very interesting to see how we play without him.
On the subject of diving I don't know why the umps don't report players as they have been instructed to do. Start reporting it and players will stop trying it, same as ducking tackles.

yep have to agree 100% with
yep have to agree 100% with all that. especially reporting players for diving. no score in the last quarter will always cost you a game especially the close ones.

Top 8 teams
Well other than Freo we've played Sydney, Hawks, Essendon and Collingwood.
I reckon they're all top 8 sides and the only one we got pumped by was Collingwood (which is understandable).
I know they weren't wins but a close game against a good team still says a lot.

yeah Sydney game wasnt tooo
yeah Sydney game wasnt tooo flash.
I'd be hard pressed to say any team will beat the eagles from here on in at home.
Only exceptions would be Collingwood, Geelong, Carlton I'd say.
But they are yet to prove their level in MElbourne yet, and the Carlton game will be a test!
They have improved massively over the last 6 weeks. Unlike previous years the eagles have size with Nic Nat, Cox, Lynch, Kennedy, Darling. This is unusal for either WA side.
Been pretty impressed with Lynch. He's not kicked many goals, but geez his marking abilities have sky rocketed. Definately a lead up forward role now.
The other thing they have this year, is a fit team with a low injury count. Look at the saints, bulldogs and even freo. Injuries are killing them.

Dead right Bodie
and you can chuck Hawthorn on that list too. Definatly an area where if Wet Toast can keep there injury list as it is they will do well.
But say if Kerr, Coxy and one of the forwards (especially Kennedy) goes down at the same time you'll be in big trouble.
Either way not being a WA team supporter it's still good to see both sides going OK.

Im a hard eagles supporter,
Im a hard eagles supporter, though i must admit when we dont play against the dockers, they do have a soft spot. Definately into supporting WE teams against the east....
Injuries can ruin a teams run to the cup (hawthorn for a flag, dockers for top 4), but sadly its part of the game. We had a horrid run of injuries. Matt i disagree with you saying if we loose cox or kerr or glass well start loosing. We have played minus kerr a couple time this season and won. in fact minus kerr/embly from a derby and we won, and won significantly..and we also have some young kids playing good footy it up in the WAFL(gaff, broome, lycett, stevens). I just dont think people are willing to consider the eagles a contender for top 4, till we knock a top team, fair enough. but the eagles this year are finals bound, All the stats show it. We are top 4 for alot of the keys of footy these days, though i do agree we arnt a top 4 side yet Gotta proove we can compete and beat the top teams.
saying in comparison to hawthorn loosing franklin hodge and mitchell all at the same time would equal cox kerr and kennedy. Kennedy top 3 in gold kicking but im sure lecca could step it up if need be
Carlton and Geelong in the next 3 games only time will tell.
my two cents.

Yep I agree
your finals bound, just need to show it against a top 4 side.
You may have misread my point, I meant if 3 or 4 of your top players go down to long term injuries you will be hard pressed to cover them. Sure your doing well at the moment and yes it has been against lower strengthed clubs but you can only play who turn up.
Your comparison to the hawks is a little pointless coz we're already in huge trouble and will struggle to hold a top 4 spot. Probably finish 5-6th and bow out early.
Like I said it's good to see the WA sides doing well but just hold your excitement a little, can't expect wet toast to go from wooden spoon to top4. If it happens i'll gladly eat my words.

5th - 6th would be a good
5th - 6th would be a good result. We're only half of the way through the season and further injuries will trash every side.
Freelong will be interesting to watch now Selwood is out for 3 - even though they have great ball carriers, he is a barometer for their performance each week.
Did anyone else see Dermott Brereton show how Selwood gets the free kicks the other week - cant remember which show, butvery good!
