easy access boat fishing somewere between perth and Kalbarri ?
Taking a few days off soon and have promised to get a young nephew and my brother out and about for a trip away with the boat.
Not sure the young guy can handle big days out in the boat so looking for a spot to take him. (coastal town with not so big distances to travel to semi decent fish)
hoping to pick up Dhu's baldies etc for him.
My usual destination is Coral bay and we head WIDE but don't want to travel that far in case it's just too much for the youngun.
have heard a few good things about Leeman but never launched or fished there.
Kalbarri an option as I have a few good spots but again some are pretty wide as well.
would very much welcome some suggestions or general comments on places to travel
BTW wouldn't be too happy with beach launch as I'm not really set up for it.
boats a 6.1 genesis. I've had for well over 10 years.
Cheers all

Just came back from
Just came back from geraldton yesty, caught a few undersize baldies and snapper fishing in close in the tinny. Spoke to a few people at the ramp who rekon theres baldies along the edges north and south at the end of the shipping channel. Got out there and the ground looked very promising but my mate got sick very quickly on the way out so we didn't even get one drop before coming in to calmer waters!
The ramp is very good with 2 jetties and is protected by the rock groynes. Plenty of parking although it was nearly full on Sunday with the good weather. Definetly want to give it another crack soon.

Where to start
Cervantees, Jurien, Greenhead, Leeman are all good spots. I fish Leeman because I know people who have accommodation up there but from what I've seen each location fishes well.
I usually have an explore for fish where is drops off to 30m and in the 30's themselves, I've had one trip out to the shelf (well western side of it) and we got good baldies and emporer come over the side.

Both Leeman or Jurien Bay
Both Leeman or Jurien Bay would be good options, good launching facilties at both, but can get a bit of swell at the new Leeman ramp.
Accommodation probably easier to find at Jurien, but need to head further for a decent fish there than Leeman.

Biggest issue is winds long
Biggest issue is winds long that stetch your looking at. Can be great, can be blowing its ass off..
With a young fella, I'd be more inclined to look at Jurien, mainly because you have the island there, and if the weather is average can still pay about in the bay with the cover of the island most of the time. There is nice Skippy, whiting etc in there, probably squid about too.
As for bigger bottom fish, doesnt take much to pick up nice fish right ont he back of the reefs just behind the island, they also get some solid pinky's over the lumps on the north passage. Plenty of top water stuff too if your heading up sometime soon.

Like everywhere else Kalbarri is really wind dependant.
but the next couple months would give the young bloke a chance to tangle with Mackie and several different Tuna species, the trip, out for the Pelagics starts about 500m from the VMR ramp!
