Ebay braid

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has tryed any of the braided lines or even mono lines available on ebay and what they're thoughts on them are? Pretty cheap and available in large spools. I currently use high end diawa and nitlon braids as I dont mind spending that little extra on decent line, but have a few mates who are going to try it and see how they go so looking for others experiences.

Cheers Sam.

cheap braid

Mon, 2012-03-19 19:44

I use Nitlon and Daiwa and have used the cheap stuff and wont go back,my brother in law pulled it off all his reels one day up in Denham after he lost several fish. That said I never had any problems with it and it caught lots of fish.

Everybody has a different budget mine now is top end but will probably go down hill when the kids hit high school .I dont know about the mono , its hard to tell without feeling it and using it.

Cheap

One thing to remember, what you pay is what you get, if its cheap then so is its quality.

Tried some a while back and soon dumped all of it after losing good fish with it breaking when under load.

There is some good stuff on E-bay

Mon, 2012-03-19 21:48

Avoid the real cheap crap... but you can get a good deal on ebay on braid like power-pro and tuffline. I bought a 600yd (550mt) spool of 30lb tuffline XP for $50 delivered to my door.  A 300mt spool will set you back $70+ in most tackle shops. Just look on e-bay a couple of times a day and snap up a bargain when you can

Friends don't let friends power pro.

Line tests, read this for actual numbers, not speculation and guesswork:

Lots of bullshit ebay brands in those tests, and they don't come out looking too good either.

I got some cheap 50lb for

Tue, 2012-03-20 10:27

I got some cheap 50lb for bottom bashing as the bloody sharks up here were stealing too much line.  It was cheap, but is very strong and it should be considering it is as thick as shoe laces.   It does the job, so is better than losing $50 worth of expensive line every trip.
