Esperance fishing

Hi all, So the family and myself have come down to esperance for 3 weeks holidays over Xmas! Arrived today and almost settled ready to explore and find some fun fishing locations.Looking for spots I can take the wife and 3 young daughters (all 5 and under) to have some fun. Also looking for some spots for myself and father inlaw and brother inlaw for some adult fishing fun with the hope of something a bit bigger, maybe an overnighter or 2! Have tried the search function but it won’t work off my phone for some reason? I have a capable 4wd and good fishing knowledge. Just after a point in the right direction as this is my first time here. Also keen on a day or 2 out on the boat if anyone is looking for an experienced decky, obviously pay my way and very experienced on boat have all my my own gear and would love a decent fish for Xmas dinner! Thanks in advance for any replies and appreciate all your time. Thanks Adam and the family and merry Xmas to all

Really basic but...

 Hey Flash,

I just got back from a trip down there yesterday. It sounds really basic but the best spot we found out of the wind for the kids was the southern side of the channel at Bandy Creek boat harbour, opposite the boat ramp. We caught herring and small KGW by casting into the channel near the yellow marker buoy. Not a wild fishing adventure but it satisfied the kids and it was out of the wind. That side also gives you access onto the beach for an easy run if the wind drops. Lots of berley and real small baits. It was about all we could get into because of the wind.

Good luck and merry Xmas.

Hi Flash

Mon, 2017-12-18 17:49

I’m  based down in Esperance and have a three week shutdown from the 22nd over Xmas so if the weathers good I’ll be looking to head out in the boat just pm me.

For the kids apart from Bandy creek could try out at stockyards beach as well.

For an overnighter I’d be looking at heading east anywhere from Dunn’s Rd all the way out to poison creek, drop into the tourist bureau as they have maps, but a word of warning the beaches to the west can be a bit soft at times.

Also try Salmon and fourth beaches for Salmon, skippy etc. Easy access beaches and good for the kids.

As Striker has said, head out east for better beach fishing and fish the evening and into the night for gummies, mulloway etc. Alexander bay, Thomas River and are great beaches and really good to explore with the family too.

FYI - lucky bay/cape le grande are really popular with tourists but arent really know for good fishing.
