Esperance Fishing

 Hi all

Heading down to Esperance for 5 nights. Never beach fished down that way. Anyone have any pointers. Just chasing some whiting or squid for a fresh feed. Salmon if they are around.

Have a 4wd drive, happy to travel around, if there are places worth a look. Cheers

Nothing Exciting

Went down 3 or 4 years ago with family and we were just staying in town and never ventured too far. Main jetty was closed for reconstruction at the time but I went down in the evening a couple of times at Taylor St jetty and was getting squid and heaps of herring. Got a couple of King George also.

Old locals were slaying the herring with chicken breasts for bait.

Was having plenty of fun catching heaps of big herring with twisties off the beach at Blue Haven and noted some crew catching salmon at Salmon Beach just opposite Blue Haven. I reckon there would be resident fish down there year round.

Wylie Beach is a good spot,

Wylie Beach is a good spot, easy access,  close to town. Heaps of herring,  Skippy and tarwhine. Wharton beach is a bit further out and has better gutters still easy 4x4 mint spot for a fish and a swim but careful of the local bronze whaler that cruise the beach. Lucky Bay is out that way too the list goes on. In the town harbour we caught king George,  herring and other small stuff great for kids. Good luck
