No inter dorsal measurements applicable for tigers. They are all fair game.

Tigers

Wed, 2021-12-29 17:24

Pirate,

In the years I have been going to the Canning Vale Markets wholesale fish auctions I can't recall seeing many, if any, tigers there.  This is pretty strong evidence that they almost have no value as a food species.

The price of shark on the floor varies quite considerably based on species, size and market supply and demand.  Gummy and Sandbar seem to get the highest price but it is rare to see shark go for more that $10 per kilogram.  In fact, some sharks go as low at $0.5 per kilogram or are passed in.  Shark fins on the other hand can achieve market floor prices well above $50 per kilogram.  Of course, all fish presented at market are subject to requlations by WA Fisheries and catches from the professionals are subject to licence conditions which are derived from government policy at the time.

I reckon catch and release is a pretty good strategy, and they were quality catches.

Cheers.

Mick

You never regret releasing a fish. Karen's would have crucified you if you had chopped it up. One to keep in the memories.
