FADS 8/5
First off, If Alfred posted this, it would be in the Brag Board, but as its me, its in Reports. Nice quiet day out there, good weather, bit overcast later on with a little light rain. No other boats, yes, we had the fads to ourselves, just us and the Dolphinfish.
The score: Alfred: 2, Dolphinfish: 0, Jamie: 0, Dolphinfish: 2*
*Im willing to dispute the nature of their win, ok so I got busted off, and I broke my rod, but Im still here, Ill get another rod and Ill then they will pay *grin*
Just next time Ill catch one on heavier line first and before I waste 90min of Alfred's time trying to land a fairly well sized on on 10lb gear. It was great fun, I did perhaps 6 laps of the boat and we got the fish up to the boat a few times before I put a bit much bend in the rod with the fish alongside, then went on a run and pind the rod. He was on for another 5min perhaps, but we didnt get any really good opportunities to gaff and he busted me off.
It was a great day out and one really did get away, this time. Here is Alfred with those that didn't

Ughh! What an ulgy mug!
Oh what a minute - that's me!
Till shouldn't have put up pics of dead fish!
Sorry about the rod, but I hope you had a good day.
We were lucky no other boats were there, so had the FADs to ourselfs. Till was wiped out by the second one he hooked. 1hr 35min to get it to the boat. We drifted from Hillaries to Furuno fighting that mahi!
First thing he did when the line went "ping" was to dive into his bag to get an energy bar and water! LOL!
Took a few different presentations, but we got them biting, all in all had good fun.
Thanks for the comments guys.

Afred again with the dollies while the rest of us slug it out for twice as long for 2 less fish
Over an hour on 10lb, dont you know how to work your drag Till, lol. Must of been a bit of fun even if you didnt keep it though.
What presentation ended up working?
Also, I thought Furuno was gone?

Kaitan - one was smaller,
Kaitan - one was smaller, but the other about the same size.
Matt - I meant we drifted to where the Furuno FAD was supposed to be.

The drag was calibrated to
The drag was calibrated to pull 3kg before we left and I turned it up half a notch while the fish was on, I was tiring, and I was hoping the fish was as well. That reel is supposed to do 15lb of drag before a washer upgrade, Ill have to get my carefully calibrated bucket out for some more testing.
They took mulies, we didn't try any lures.
You can see the rod is on a slight angle, when loaded like that, it touched the blank between the reel and the stripper, the stripper and the one after. I think Ill spool with 20lb for the dollys next, and those nitro innovator renegade 6'6" look pretty good altough I'd prefer something just a smidge longer. Anyone got any recommendations for 6-10kg? I guess it would be?
Pretty sure it was a little bigger than my last one although seeing as Alfred didnt get a photo I can pretty much say anything I like =)

Odd that a dollie would take
Odd that a dollie would take an hour to get in on 3kg or drag. Though you gotta make use of every opportunity you can to recover line.
Lots of 6-10kg rods in baitcaster at 7'. (one piece or two). They're usually 'barra rods'. Now try finding a 2 piece 10kg 7' spinning rod (trying to do that atm and not a lot of options, they all have triggers or are too expensive or have uncomforable handles or too long butt or one piece)

Yeah its a 4-piece, or was
Yeah its a 4-piece, or was anyway
7' 6-10kg with a trigger sounds ideal, Ill see what I can find in the segment thats two-piece.
