Dog won’t like it in summer
It's too hot for them to walk on during the day!

LJ can easily burn a dogs feet
Several councils have banned installation kerbside because of this and because it needs to be heavily flushed with water or it quickly gets stinky as hell. Hopefully the pup will grow out if the digging phase though some never do as they like to lay in the cool sand

As someone who's now had two
As someone who's now had two Golden Retriever puppies with my second one now 19 months old my advice is to just strap yourself in for 2 to 2.5 years and resign yourself to the fact you'll be fixing up retic, garden beds, lawn etc. Best dogs but man they are naughty puppies and it'd be just as likely to tear up your fake lawn once laid and mine managed to pull up a corner of my fake lawn and dig a big hole through the cracker dust.
That said I laid while my old boy was still around in 2018 as the lawn was shaded by a trampoline, my roof and the fence as various parts of the day and he would dig up the sandy bits. I definitely don't regret it and I did get a bit of an issue with smell from the older dog but not from the pup so far and you can get stuff to pour on the lawn to break down the urea and take the smell away.
Officially off the Pies bandwagon

Funny you say that jack
He always goes exactly where reticulation is under ground . I’ve put little cages around sprinklers ( loved eating them). I will just keep trying. Little shit tell him off lies on back . Cracks woody 10 mins later into it.

i had it in a small section
i had it in a small section of yard that didnt get much sun -and we bought the best on market at the time (405 years ago) looked great from day one to the day we pulled it out and replaced with lawn but
had to wash it as said above
dog sht sticks to it - so after removing the nards you are still left with some sht which you have to wash off
on mild day it gets hot, on a hot day it gets ffff hot
goes sticky in summer, not nice to walk on
only really good imo for places like small courtyards in shade with no dog
