Fast fish rule
Headed out to West End today in search of some of those metro macks with Grame (Uncle on here) and his mate. I haven't targetted them properly before so was keen to drag a few lures around chasing them.
Seabreeze was looking a little iffy changing to a less favourable forecast but the weather ended up being great out there, with a bit of breeze as we got back to the three mile.
Water was a whopping 27.2degC so we knew we were in with a chance. Trolled around for a bit to no touches but then one of the lures started screaming off and Mladin landed a very nice mackie that ended up going 18kg and 147cm. Not a bad way to start the day at all.
We dropped the pick and berleyed up for a bit but the damn mutton birds meant a floater was out of the questions so we trolled around a bit more after that and managed to pick up another one. It actually came to the boat with its neck cut, which was great as it came pre-bled (and we didnt have a knife, just managing to do with scissors on the last fish).
Trolled for a bit and got a nice strike on my lure, but unforunately didnt hook up. Tried for some tuna on the way back, but not much luck (saw a bit of bait though). Back at the ramp at 2pm, so not a bad day at all chasing the silvery vistors from the north.

If you want to learn about trolling minnows for pelagics, uncle is your man. Fair to say he's probably forgotten more than most guru's will ever know. That top fish is an absolute cracker.

Chicken Run ?
Uncle, what or where is the "Chicken Run", have read and heard about it but no-one can tell me exactly.
I guess it is around the reef that is on very south west corner of the island, the reef that always breaks..
We normally troll as close as we dare get to it as there are a few bommies close by, then once past it heading northerly then tuck in towards to island again before swinging out around cathedral rocks....
Great metro fish that top fish is a cracker...........

yeah, it runs south west from the point of west end its good ground, need to be careful in close[swells] the inside in the reef is usually good, but not yesterday,we have got macks, tuna, sambos, ytks and allways good for salmon.

Lets hope the weather behaves so I can get back out there this weekend! Metro makkie has eluded me thus far
Great fish that first one
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Cant hurt. Some guys love the Witchdoctor teasers for macks. I know that I lose bits off any bird and skirt teasers regularly due to macks but I am a bit North.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
