Hey me and a few friends spent the weekend at Hamelin bay where we were greeted with some nice schools of salmon, we were fishing from the beach which was a little harder when all the boats were right on top of the school but we still got stuck into a few

Gonna piss alot of people off
Gonna piss alot of people off here, but il say it anyway. If you got a boat why dont you chase the schools that are out deeper and hold around them? On last years run i got tangled up with a boat fisho when i was lb, we both lost the fish and he spat it at me as tho it was my fault i was using .y flicky so not as tho i was bombing slugs a mile out, other times a school would be holding inside the reef we were fishing so the boaties would drive in and spook them out so it was safer for them to target, if your gonna fish within casting distance of the beach save yourself the fuel money get a bit of excersise and fish from the beach, more fun for salmon imo. Rant over! cracker salmon there tho wickid conditions

Couldn't agree more
If the boats stayed 20-30m ocean side of the school it wouldnt be a problem. Gives the lb guys a chance to cast over the school to bring the lure back through.

No empathy for boaties.
If a boat fishes with in the LB distance of shore then they really are putting themselves and crew in danger.
It takes on effort, but just a smidgen of brain, to be ocean side of Salmon by a good 30 meters. Every one safe and every one fishing.

Rob I was down at Hamelin
Rob I was down at Hamelin watching this go on too, I didn't fish the school as I'd already caught plenty and watched from the boat ramp... I couldn't agree more, the boats would have pissed me off.
In particular one small tinny which kept sitting between the shore and the school.. not allowing them to move in shallower.
Very frustrating for all the guys trying to reach the school, some wading out to neck deep in water.
All too hard for me, I prefer a quieter beach, there are plenty of salmon about no need to fight the crowds!

Not on, and just not safe
Not on, and just not safe sometimes. I just sit back and have a few bourbons if it all gets too crazy

One could only hope that the
One could only hope that the vast majority of boat owners have more sense amd respect for other fishos than to get between the schools and the shoreline to prevent the fish from coming in and the lbs from targeting them. Might aswel hang a net out the back and circle around them while theyre at it...
Good things come to those who bait.

I'm sure there are some
I'm sure there are some considerate boaties out there in regard to this, but I'm yet to see one and I spend a lot of time on the beaches at this time of the year.
Last year there was a dickhead at Bunkers pointing out the school to us, then moved his boat on the inside of the school so he ended up getting a 60gm slice in his direction.
