The Samson river in Waroona below the dam always had a lot of small blue marron.great fun watching them walk around.I always believed it was the water quality and high oxygen content. The 2 that I snared that were size had very hard shells and I kept them in an aquarium. When they changed shell they were black again.
We get blues in one dam at the family farm on the outskirts of boyup. The rest are all black. Ive always wondered what causes them to be blue. Now ive got a feeling its the water and amount of oxygen they get in that particular dam.

Should of put that in a tank
there is a company that breeds them. The Japanese market love anything that's different

Caught probably hundreds of river marron(10 years living in Bridgetown) and only ever got one blue one, that was in a dam near Walpole

No need to breed.
the blue colour is from being in very clean water. They will all turn blue in clean water after a few months.
