Fish smokers

I am keen as to get into smoking fish. I have seen the steel box style smokers with the metho burner underneath used to good effect, and at around $100 it seems to be a good entry level smoker. Can anyone share their opinions on whether this style is the way to go, or should I be looking at the more expensive electric or gas style ones?

We have Fish Smokers instore

We have Fish Smokers instore which start from $45, Smokers offer you something a little bit different from your average day to day cooking. The box smokers are fine for small volumes of fish / Red meat. We also stock many different flavours of wood chips / Shavings to suit.

Cheers

I have one of the stainless smal fish smokers and they work reasonably well. Good for Herring fillets etc. Looking at getting into a cold smoker in the near future.

I have the 6 shelf model in the Bradley Smoker. Also works very well as an oven. Brilliant. Still getting the hang of it.  But as you said, serious as it does cost over a grand.

Had it for about 6 years now and still in good nick. Good also for taking to the beach or camping. The old Webber out the back does an OK job as well. Smoking is an art in itself really and takes some working out.

I just ordered a Smoke Daddy cold smoker off ebay.

You can connect it to any space (I'm using a shelving cabinet).

Worth a look

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Save your money and get  a webber. the old ones are sick smokers, put the coals and chips on the sides and the fish on the metal in the middle, i use cups to hold it up a bit so its near the top where the smoke accumulates. heaps of people throw them away on the verge collections or you can get a good condition on in the quokka for like 20 bucks sometimes. works a treat :)
