Fishing along the Gibb River Road

Hi All.
I'm heading up to the Kimberley in July for a couple of weeks travelling along the Gibb River Rd & up to Mitchell Falls, etc. Unfortunately we're not going to get up as far as Kalumburu this time.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips for places to wet a line & species to target whilst we're camping, etc.
We'll be land-based as we're not taking the boat up at this stage.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

When I did it a few years
When I did it a few years back we went to Home Valley Station and stayed at their Pentecost river camp. The camp site is next to the river so you can just walk down and cast a line out.
We caught some threadfin salmon, bull sharks and catfish there. Try and fish the rising tide, we got the most action when it was coming in.
There was also a large saltwater croc cruising around so you need to be a bit careful getting too close to the river bank.

Thanks DTrain - just the sort
Thanks DTrain - just the sort of tips I was hoping for.
We've got 4 days at Home Valley at this stage, so I'm looking forward to wetting a line there!

There is a backtrack to Wyndham from the Pentecost crossing
turns off on the east side of the crossing and follows the river down. You go past a boab where Joseph Schwab killed two of his victims. You can access the river along there at a number of places, fishing is good if the tides aren't too big.
