Fishing Charter Recommendations
Submitted by Wes F on Mon, 2022-02-07 13:03
G'days Fisho's.
My wife and I are heading to Christmas island and Cocos island next month.
Any recomendations for fishing charters?
Wife is not a big fishing person so would mainly spectate especialy if it's large models being targeted.
Any other touristy suggestions would be appreciated as well, have a 4wd booked for Christmas island and normal car for Cocos island.
Cheers Wes.

Believe only one charter operator on Christmas
And there were none on Cocos when we were there. some truly great drives on Christmas into the rain forest. Vehicle should come with a rake....do NOT run crabs over. There was a Fishwrecked member on Christmas, he arranged a trip out for me as the charter op was away. Hoo are thick and doggies unstoppable. If you dive there are some truly spectacular dives and snorkels with the GT's and black tips at the cleaning station.
canoe trip on Cocos well worth it and again brilliant snorkelling or drifting down the deep water channel. Swimming with the mantas also great. Enjoy

Got reply from one
$800 for two people for 5 hours. Pricy when the wife doesn't fish let alone pull anything bigger than me.

Get in touch with Brent from
Get in touch with Brent from "no worries atoll", www.noworriesatoll.com.au, instagram - cocos_noworriesatoll - really nice guy and knows how to catch fish, tell him Scotty from scottyslures recommended his services, he is testing a few lures for me in a few months time. He sent me some epic pics of the fish he targets, looks bloody awesome.
There are probably other charters out there as well but he got in touch with me about my lures and we have had some great conversations about fishing.
Hope this helps.

hi WesI was at the Cocos
hi Wes
I was at the Cocos Island in Oct 2021 it was fantastic. Stayed at the Cocos Village Bungalows. There's a guy that operates a private charter with max 4 people on board at $200 each but he'll do whatever you want e.g. if your wife doesn't like fishing he can mix it by including a trip to Direction Island or visit some snokerling spots. We had fishing first (caught some great coral trouts), snokerling and anchored at DI for lunch, a walk and more snokerling.
He is located on Morea Close cant remember his name but when you get there walk along that street you'll find other activity operators are also located on this street.
