Fishing Ledge Point with a tinny

Hi guys,

I'm heading to Ledge Point in a week or so with the missus and kids with the caravan and I'm thinking of bringing my 3.75m tinny also. I'm interested in squidding with the young fella and maybe catching a dhuey in close if I get lucky. Is it worth taking a tinny there and any tips for areas to target for squid?

Thanks guys.

I've fished there in a tinny years ago. Never tried for squid but got some nice tailor trolling the back of the reef straight out from the beach where you launch.

Ok that's good to know. I never thought of trolling for tailer. Might have to give it a go. Thanks for your reply.

Worth a try mate. I also used to catch chopper tailor off the beach where you launch, but that was in the warmer months. You might be able to find some greenbacks on the wider reefs.

Plenty of dhu in close at the moment, most 50-60 but still a good feed. Lots of those big pink break sea too. Just on the inshore lumps 10-12m. Some big pinkies right off the beach. We have been doing ok out of the kayak.

Some nice reefs

around the JP Webb barge wreck straight out from launch area.  We used to dive there years ago and saw very nice fish.  Just watch any breakers.
