hi guys, was hoping to fish out from Manduarah on the weekend. I am planning on heading out past the James Service reef about 7ks to the next conture line of 30mtrs.
is there any good ground for fishing there ?
any advise would be appreciated

All I can say is dont drive
All I can say is dont drive over the James service without checking your sounder some of my best fish have come from the service. Then look at the back edge of the five fathom then it gets more difficult from there the further you head out there are plenty of flat coral patches that are hard to see on the sounder in the 30-50s.

I find the 30m contour line
I find the 30m contour line is better off dawesville, meaning you'll find it easier but not that easy to find some ground. In saying that it can still be hit and miss. Service and insideof the fathom is always worth a shot around dawn

The weather isn’t going to be
The weather isn’t going to be kind this weekend but if your feeling brave you will do much better at the 40m mark.

we have had success in the
we have had success in the 30 and 40 mtr mark. there is lots of small lumps in between. found a few that showed fish.
in the 30s we have found kg dhuie b/bum pinkies and sharks. in the 40s the same but also reds and bauldies. lots of ground if you go looking . big sand whiting just inside the reef thats about 2 1/2 nm out as well which is more protected from the southerlies.

Have not been down that way in years, can't see any pink squiggly lines.
Not a big fan of uploading all my info to navionics and giving away my fishing spots to community share.
As you can see on the web app,not sure if everyone is aware of what happens.

Agree with a few previous
Agree with a few previous posts. 30’s to 50’s are great fishing on the gravel patches for demersals.
Good sand whiting in the 20’s on the back of the 5 fathom.
between the 5 fathom and JamesService good for skippy over the weed patches. Anchor n burley up.
Great to get out there and find your own spots, advice only goes so far - nothing beats having success and creating your own knowledge of what to catch where!
Hope you get a few.
cheers.

I just love Exmouth: Its a quaint little drinking town with a fishing problem!

thanks Browny, i have fished quite a few times with my Dad who lives down there, but he stays inside the James Service reef, but towards Safety bay. We always get a feed of whiting & the odd Dhu & KG.
I was only asking if there was any decent ground out wider so i could head out by myself, not chasing anyones spots.
