fishing for prawns using hooks

been back to Island Singapore for abit more then 6 month. this will be my 1st report back.

no no.. dont get me wrong, i have been fishing.. i really have.. almost every weekend.. just that.. i have not caught anything worth reporting.

its always been the 1-2kg snakehead.. largest i manage was one 4+kg unit. therefore.. yah.. but this i find kind of intresting. fishing for prawns with hooks. so.. less talk and more pictures.

location: east side of singapore

line: 2lb

rod: sure catch

hook size : 7

bait: chicken heart (raw)

result: no one went home empty handed.. the last pic is my result of 2 hrs work. ;)

overall, it was all gd fun, for family and all. anyone who comes over to Singapore and would like to give it a try.. do let me know. happy to bring u there.

Dhuboi: honestly, i too have no idea about it until one of them boys (the one in blue) bought me there to fish. its my 1st trip and 1st time using hooks for prawns too. but from what i see, its just another way for the family to spend some time together and have some healthy resonably price fun.

Golden Ponds should bring in

Wed, 2009-09-16 20:12

Golden Ponds should bring in a marron pond using that technique.  Hooked onto a marron on 1 kilo would be a laugh.

There maybe the return of the quiver tip

Wha Udang gala, sedap!

Where are you getting the auran or toman?  The storm drain that goes under Yio Chu Kang Road and SLE has decent size toman there and feather backs as well.  Use light line and tamban for bait.

I've seen a Shimano TV online show where they tried this out.  Would be an awesome way to spend a cold rainy winters day in Perth.

SLE heading towards Upper

Thu, 2009-09-17 22:23

SLE heading towards Upper Thomson Road  You will pass a large storm drain.  Right there under the bridge is good for toman.

Kranji, get a detailed map and make your way to the BBC Broadcast Station.  Just before the station, is a good spot for aruan, very aggressive there for some reason.  I like the Nil Master lures in blue.

Thu, 2009-09-17 22:43

wow! cheers for the detailed info. i am guessing that i know where u r talking about for both places.

the large storm drain.. i have tired. as its just outside my camp. heehee~ yah.. agree.. some good tomans.. but dont alway produce. 100% luck. there's peacock bass, ferther back and serbaraus there too.

as for Kranji, thanks.. i will find sometime to scout out that place.

me normally would used them daiso lures.. from minnos, stick to popper.. affordable to loss and they work. =)

will you be heading back to Singapore anytime? lets meet up for coffee and a gd fishing session..
