Submitted by SPESS on Wed, 2007-01-24 09:20
Im starting to get withdrawals cause i havent been out on the water in nearlly 2 months and are hanging for a decent session. Just wondering if anyone can be of assistance to me. Any spare spots, ill pay for whatever to get out! Even if theres a chance of getting on a charter if anyone else is keen. Sat or sun next week (3rd and 4th) is looking good for me! Can anyone help? Greatly appreciated! Happy to travell and even tow the boat if nesessary. Please help me!

You sound as desperate as i
You sound as desperate as i feel Spess, been a couple of weeks for me too mate, starting to hurt.... :(
Was hopin to get a bit of fishin in this weekend, but unfortunately the good lady wife has decided she needs things done around the house, which takes precedence...........apparently ????
I reckon i'll still be able to squeeze a couple of couple of shore based late arvo tailor/lure sessions though... ;)
Does anyone know if the down stream tailor that were so prolific about a month ago are still hanging around?
Good luck with ya search Spess, i feel for ya and with ya brother.

OK ok
The story goes, headed out, got the spread out, within 10 minutes had tuna jumping infront of the boat, within 20 minutes we had our first double hookup of bonito. Soon as the spread was out again the 3rd bonito was on.
We moved on from there as they weren't really pulling too hard and after about half an hour we found what we were looking for. Lots of birds and a triple hookup on southern bluefin around the 3kg mark. On bringing them to the boat we saw hundreds of them pass under us in an iridescent haze. We pulled the heavy gear out of the water and went with the lightest stuff we had with instant hookups before the boat got in gear. We trolled around a few times and ended up with enough for a feed for each of us and continued watching them pass under the boat in numbers. They went deep shortly after and we proceeded on to try and find some bottom bouncing ground.
We got picked to death by wrasse and sgt bakers, I managed to get a solid dusky morwong which was released. We gave that up after an hour and moved to try and get some KG's but were plagued by wrasse again. We headed in close and got some shelter and Bouttime picked up 3 squid whilst we were chilling out having a yarn.
Was a great day all up and good to meet OX. Cheers goes to Steve for taking us out. The sashimi craving has just been satisfied.... MMMM.

I know the feeling - (1 week to go)
Havn't done any decent fishing for ages. (King george do not count though are fun and great to eat)!!
Well this time next week hopefully my arms will aches and I'll be into the Sambos and SB Tuna on the west coast of Eyre Pen in South oz (weather gods permitting, - sacrificing virgins as we speak). Work is just not cutting it at the moment.............
Damm it Spess - thanks for reminding me about doing the gutters before I go!! Might have to clean them with the berley scoop and pretend!!
Even considering tying a kid to the end of my line and telling them to run hard and fast, -- then lock the drag up..........
PS if youre considering that too put a bowl of icecream 20 metres in front of them - they pull a bit harder (even manage to pull a bit of line on the lighter gear)!!
6 days 19 hours 3 minutes 27 seconds (26,25,24,23,22 etc) and counting.....
Cheers

Thats funny you said that
Thats funny you said that because ive tryed it! The wifes nephews were giving me the shits one day so i made this great new game up. You tie a double in your 150lb leader big enough to fit the kid inside, attach that to your main line and t-curve, tiagra 30 outfit. Get them to run down the road flat out in free spool and then slap it in full drag mode! The little buggers feet lifted off the ground and he landed flat on his butt!I was buying them everything in the shops to stop them from telling there mum! She found out though! Shit it was funny, now the little buggers want to do it all the time.

Will let you know how I go when we get back on saturday, no doubt I'll be stuffed from staying up all night :))
