Fuel monitoring

Hi all,
Does anyone use there sounder/gps to monitor the fuel usage/ fuel remaining on their boats?
My Elite 9 is hooked up to my NMEA2k network and can display fuel burn in lp/h, but am wondering if it can also track litres remaining aswell.
Cheers

Only if Fuel Flow Sensor is installed.

I'm not 100% sure how it
I'm not 100% sure how it works, but on my boat we needed a Fuel Memory stick. It plugs into the NMEA2000 and keeps track of how much fuel you have used, and how much you have remaining. Then we need to remember to manually reset the fuel level when we refill the tank, because there's no float sensor in the tank itself.
I think this is the unit that we have installed:

Ok thanks mate, i was hoping
Ok thanks mate, i was hoping the unit would be able to keep a record aswell. It is able to show fuel rate from engine ecu and was hoping it could just use that to calculate. All good cheers for the info.

Yes, it is logical and easy
Yes, it is logical and easy task for a head unit. But who then is going to spend another $200-250 on such pleasant trifles? :-)

Have a backup
With my Lowrance HDS connected to the ECU I can display litres remaining with warnings when it drops below preset levels. Also gives you longer term fuel consumption as well, its a good system.
Worked really well and is pretty accurate, until someone flogs some fuel out of your tank. Though I had +50 litres left one day before running out halfway across the sound after pulling pots - not happy. Ever since I have a fuel level sender connected as well with its own warnings.

Same here with my Garmin
Same here with my Garmin 7410's.
Tell the Garmins how much fuel in Litres my tank holds and they use the ECU fuel burn numbers to tell me how much is left in Litres, % and range in Nm at current fuel burn rate.
Mine is super accurate unless you forget to tell the Grmins how much fuel you've added when you top the tank up again......or as above some prick pinches it.
