Fuel tank concerns

Hi all,
Down at All boats this morning, dropping off the Douglass Craft to have the Johnson given the once over and to rectify that misfire at >2500rpm and spoke to Quentin. We were looking over the boat renovations, when he mentioned that the inbuilt fuel tank should have and earth strap from the tank to the deck filler. It makes sense to a certain degree, with the habits of static electricity, but I would have thought with a fibreglass boat, plastic deck filler and reinforced plastic fuel filler hose, that that would not be an issue. What do you others know?
I will let you all know how it went when I pick up the boat as to what the problem with the motor was and how reasonable ABB was.

No doubt
I am not doubting the abilities of Quentin. He certainly has been right on the money when I have spoken to him about issues with the Johnson in the past.
No, I was wondering if any of you have a similar boat setup and whether you have done what Quentin has suggested.
As to how they will go with the motor problem, I am sure they will sort it out - hopefully tomorrow, as I didn't hear back from them before closing time. He did say this morning they were under the pump, so we will wait and see.

I bonded all the fuel lines,
I bonded all the fuel lines, filters, tanks and sender units to common earth (negitive) on the boat. Anything metal of coarse includes the motor. Did it because that was what I was taught.

Mystery solved
Seems Quentin and his crew have it sussed. Spoke to him this arvo, he reckons there were a few wires loose in the main lead connection. The remote cables have turned out to be faulty, fully adjusted and unable to slip into reverse smoothly. Fingers crossed, Quentin reckons it will be ready tomorrow.
I will connect that wire like he said, better to be safe than sorry.

broken wire
The other day I was cleaning out any rubbish that may have fallen into the bilge area and noticed the wire had broken off the metal filler cap, the wire had become brittle due to the salt, had a bit to play with so stripped it back and reconnected. It would seem standard pratice if Haines does it to their boats.
Regards.

Will do
Thanks Magneto,
I will wire that up very soon. Took the boat out yesterday on the Swan. It was quite something. Cruised happily at 20 knots doing 3000rpm. Using 1.12l/knot and sitting happily on the plane with approx 15deg trim. The ride was better than I had imagined and the motor was incredibly quiet compared with the Volvo inboard I had on my old Supreme Craft. Got her up to 35 knots at 4200rpm and I know that was not WOT! Have finally rigged up the 27meg and will have the epirb mounted very shortly. Will then give it a ocean trial out from Ocean Reef next week.
Update shortly
