Submitted by DhuBoi on Mon, 2010-07-12 19:50
Hi i have posted this before but im still wondering if anyone on this website has a Furuno GP32 and is willing to offer a little help operating the system i am getting the hang of things but still bit sketchy. Just curious on how to insert GPS co-ords what format they have to be in to enter into the system , and also how to make it so i can follow a co-ord straight out to the spot . Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Not a problem. I dont have a
Not a problem. I dont have a GP32 myself, but there are manuals to download on the Furuno US website.
As for the format of the GPS Co-ords. It can depend on how the GPS is set up. This is user selectable. Probably the most popular is Degrees.Minutes.Decimal Minutes DD.MM.MMM, or Degrees, minutes, seconds DD,MM,SS.

Accurate
Very accurate units and easy to use.
Haven't used mine for 6 months or so I'm a but rusty.
Can't remember what units I have mine set at. Something like s115, 32, 643. To go to a waypoint, press GOTO and then select the waypoint.
I usually use highway view while navigating to a spot.

Hi big john , very
Hi big john , very interesting that you also have one of these units , if you get to use your unit soon any other information you could offer me about this system and how to use it would be Great, I find things alot easier to understand if people explain it to me or show me sometimes instead of trying t understand the reader manual as sometimes i feel they complicate things more then they have to be. Next time im out there ill check the boat on how it is set up , any more info would be great thank you guys

Simple
Easiest thing to do is plug it in and play with it in the driveway.
Just press buttons and see what happens. Its a very simple operating system.
I'm over 3000 km's away so it might be a bit hard to show you in the flesh.:)

DO i need to put the unit
DO i need to put the unit into simulation mode ? and turning it on in the drive way will not affect way point or gps operation in anyway? Also while in the driveway i can operate and get similair results to what i would get if i took her out on the water , ie way point direction to drive in etc ? 3000 km is a bit far but i would go that far for fishing if it would assist me greatly in the future.

Fine
Will be fine in driveway. That way you can have a look at the different nav screens, enter, edit and delete waypoints etc.
No need to use simulation mode.

Same
I use them like you have just listed, but for the first set of numbers it could be two or three depending on the coordinate ie. E115 or S32.
