probably wont actualy enter in it but am keen to be over there that time of year.hope they spend a bit of coin on the tantibiddi ramp by then .ie neap tide, dig out the bog hole at the bottom and fill it with road base or somthing similar.it wouldnt cost that much JMO
always in it just the depth that varies
yeah 100% doing it next yr, my friend entered this yrs comp and managed to land 15 marlin....
i could agree more with mitch wat a night mare getting the boat in and out!!! those mat things there do sh**
There is a little trick which can make it a lot easier though.
If when retrieving the trailer wheels are sinking all you need is a strip of carpet. Get yourself a length of carpet a bit wider than your trailer and back your trailer wheels onto that - then the wheels dont do the sink in the sand trick. At the same time back your car wheels onto the grid things winch her up and then out comes your boat!
yeh its all very well saying that but wen the tide is out its litrally imposible to get the boat in over the sand, they supply u down there with those strips but when ure boat weighs over two and a half tonne draging over the sand bar is way to difficult, they need to fix the ramp up sumhow

hmm im not sure how they would do it because if they were to dig out a big trench so u can get your boat up to the ramp, it would just fill itself in with sand. Or if they were to extend it, it would just get covered again. The area just isn’t secure enough I think they need to build some sort of groin with rocks going out like they have on one side to stabilize and that will also make it easier to launch as well with the weather. but in the end i sapose it all comes down to money

bundegi is no different theyve said its gonna be fixed but i hear the same thing each year and its never changed.you just gotta make sure you coincide your return with the tide at tantabiddi.saves alot of dramas
Even still it has to be pretty low at Tantabiddi before you cant get out. I have never not gotten out but its been very close a couple of times.
Now I make sure I know what the tides are doing and work around that.
If i can get a crew together that knows what they are doing i might head up for it. Sound like a good week away. Going up in november to have a look and fish the billfish bonanza so if all goes well will head up for gamex in march.
hey mate...
im contemplating fishing bonanza as well but it just seems like a long way 2 travle for 2 days fishing, if we were to go we wouldnt take our boat up i think we would just higher a boat there! or sumtin whats your plans???
jonya
Low tide can be killer but a 2 1/2 tonne boat is really asking for trouble unless you work with the tides.
I've never had a problem using this technique (13 foot tinny/18 foot trailcraft): make sure ramps are under the car wheels at all times if tide is right out; winch boat on; reverse back a foot to break suction on trailer wheels; pull out firmly and do not stop until vehicle is on ramp proper.
