Garmin Striker series

 Hi guys

Wanting to add a 7" sounder/fishfinder to the boat.  Heading towards the Garmin Striker 7SV. Has chirp/downvu, sideview etc.

Anyone have experience with these?  How does it perform up to 100-150m deep?

I'm aware that it is not a fully fledged combo (has basic mapping etc).

Will be using another unit for GPS.

Thanks

upgrading

I am upgrading to this one from the Striker 7 series SV, not sure if the boat shop will keep it or not. I originally wanted one with maps, but they made a mistake and put this one in.
I am going for this one instead. echoMAP™ CHIRP 75sv

The striker is very basic and you can make tracks of where u have been, and mark way points but that is about it for maps.

Im not buying it for maps features (or lack of).  More keen on the sounder features.

How were the sounder quality on yours?

Also, the reason why I'm not going with the ecoMAPS series is because Navionics is better than Garmin's bluecharts, IMO..

Ive got a 7sv in my tinnie.  Sidevu and downview is very good.  Easy to use unit and very happy with it.  Haven't tried the chirp in the depths you're chasing tho.

 Thanks for the input guys.

Scuttle, glad to hear you're happy with it.  Online reviews seem quite positive, apart from the mapping feature in which I'm not too worried about.

Any other units around the $700-$800 mark I should be looking at?  The Dragonfly Pro 7 seems good but has no sideview which I reckon is a great feature!
