GIANTS
Submitted by Dale on Sun, 2015-02-15 18:43
They reckon half of WA went and seen the Giants on the weekend, both my kids volunteered for it and were part of the blue shirt team keeping the idiots at bay. Me and the cook went up yesterday afternoon/evening and saw it. Kudos to the PTA for sorting out transport, our train back was surely overloaded, but it hauled 8 odd carriages without an issue. The event was surely quite spectacular, would have been a good day on the water today as they headed back to Henderson to get packed away. 5.4 million to bring them here, sure I would go and something like that again.

Yeah, I thought about doing that too, but I knew the rules.

Was on the train yesterday...
...packed in like sardines, faces smashed up against the glass, saying "we're going to see puppets." Whatever floats peoples' boat, I guess...

Hmmmmm
Doesn't really float my boat...Puppets moving at a glacial pace....More fun watching council workers prune garden beds in the middle of Albany hwy on a Sunday morning....* no offence meant for council workers or 12 m high puppets*

Lots of people not
Lots of people not interested but it certainly has gathered a fair bit of attention. Great to see Perth actually have 'something' for people to get excited about. Can only be a good thing.

We didn't go but agree
We didn't go but agree dodgy. Plenty of shite going on in the world at the moment, good to see something good take people's minds of all the crap and reality for at least a few days. Had agood friend of ours on the pullys, reckons it's the most fun thing he's ever done in his life.

Working those pullys
Working those pullys would've worked up a sweat...watching those guys on the ground bouncing around made me feel decidedly unfit!

Whether you loved it or hated it
or couldnt be bothered it certainly caused some talking, and 1.4 million people turning up to the 3 days couldnt have hated it. Perth got a well needed buzz and for a little time forgot about all the troubles in the world.
I didnt bother from mandurah but noticed the media coverage.

Great for Perth I thought
I found it disappointing however that the news coverage on some of the commercial TV channels focussed more on the public transport congestion rather than the event itself. The world would be a far better place if people these days would just loose the negativity.
Well done to the event organisers.

Not something I would have
Not something I would have willingly ventured into the city to see....what with the insane crowds etc but did happen to see it whilst in the city on Friday working and it was pretty impressive.
