gimbal bearing help please???

hey guys well the time has come to replace the gimbal bearing on my mercruiser 6.2l mpi. just wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to do? and any info at all really as I have never taken a leg off an inboard before. I cant imagine it would be too much harder besides for lifting the bravo 3 leg on and off(guessing that will take 2-3 blokes)which looks big and real heavy lol lucky im a 25 year old scaffolder. there is even a full esky and a bbq to dig into if anyone that knows what they are doing that could supervise me do it, and a carton to take home. thanks in advance for any info. cheers Jamie

Hey Jamie, when doing the gimbal bearing you'll be replacing the drive shaft bellows at least as well. Go for one of the kits that has the bearing, drive shaft, shift and exhaust belows as well. There are some specialised tools required as well.

If you look at forums.iboats.com/forum/engine-repair-and-maintenance/mercruiser-i-o-inboard-engines-outdrives there are two topics at the top of that forum that have links to what is required and also some do's and don'ts for the DIYer.
