Glass or Acylic

Went and got a quote for a new windscreen today. Toughened glass was $200 more to do the two front panels, and having the sides in acrylic. Any pit falls when getting glass? $200 is not much more, is it worth doing?

glass may get hotter( tinted
glass may get hotter( tinted may be the go . Sunergy would be my pick but not as hard wearing other wise straight grey ) , but wont deteriate so in theory should last a life time . toughened glass has a soft side and a hard side ( re: door panels. dogs will be able to scratch one side easier than the other) can't remember 100% but stamp side softer? (as all toughened glass will be stamped with aust standards )
if it's not curved it's quiet a simple job . if it's curved it can be expensive and difficault
( if you mention cash ;) alot of room to move in glass ;)
worked with both my opinion GLASS
If you go acrylic make sure it's UV stablized

Thanks Iame
Never discussed glass type or tinting. Looks as though a complete windscreen will cost about $1500 in glass. Double the price of a windscreen I had done a few years back, but that turned out to be a rough job.

windscreens
Glass is the only way to go, the acrylic has a limited life it will start to craze and get brittle, your first expense is your best expense.

Glass for forward looking
Glass for forward looking section
Get glass if it is a windscreen that you look through all of the time when driving. For boat windscreens Rainex is your best friend. You cannot use rainex on plastic or acrylic.

Try Acrylic all Shapes in Carlisle Ian. I've talked to them about boat windscreens befeore. At least they'll give you some advice. I use them a lot for various jobs and Sadie is the girl to talk to.

Thanks Guys, taking it all on board.
I rang up Chivers and went and saw who they recommended. And yes that price is for the two front square panels. That price does not include removing the old windscreen, I told them that's not fair, I have the hardest part of the job to do. Got a handrail running over the top of the windscreen that may give me grief.
Basicly wanted to know if there are any reasons that glass should not be used.
Sea-kem, got any idea of a ball park figure to get a stainless rocket launcher made for a baron Sportsman. Looking at fitting (having fitted a handrail running from the upright of the r-launcher to the front of the windscreen. Getting to the front of our boat is a battle, and one of us is going to end up in the water with out something to hang on to.

Jesus just removed my windscreen.
Jesus just removed my windscreen, why would anyone want to own a boat?
Now the question ,replace the Perspex myself or get it done down the road?
Leaning towards getting it done down the road.
I still have a service to do on the boat and trailer, plus a winch install. Perhaps God is punishing me?
