Going deep

Possibly a stupid question, hoever im asking it anyway.
Are deepwater fish (blue eye, hapuku) dpendant on moon, tides and the rest of that crap i use as an excuse as to why i cant catch snapper? my logic is 400 meters deep is a whole different world and its not a relevant topic, however i dont want to waste the fuel etc if the conditions look better next weekend.

The experts
Will know. But I know with my size boat you just get out there whenever the weather is good enough. Which isn't too often in a 21 footer.

Minimum boat size
I know its mainly fuel capacity etc, but how big a boat would a person need to go deep drop 200-300m deep?
My boat is only a 18.5ft Penguin Huntress runabout and I would love to try deep drop in future...

you could do deeop drop, but
you could do deeop drop, but the number of days would be limited, you would need the BEST weather days, which isnt many each year. Even better, do it with another larger boat in tow.
Question you have to ask yourself if your doing deep drop, do you have the sounder for it,if you dont, dont bother.

Thanks
I'll follow you and your awesome Fury out...that's until you open up the twin 140s and leave me behind... haha
Have to admit, I don't have the proper sounder for deep drop at this stage but good to know the sort of equipment I'll need.

Well I'm out from this
Well I'm out from this conversation. I misread the topic about going deep on valentines day. Come to think of it, couldnt give you much advice on that subject either. Carry on!
