Is this a good salmon?

Caught a decent salmon today north of Perth. Came in at 87cm and about 7 kilos. Took about 20 mins to land and was hooked while reeling in a bream that managed to hook it self.
Is this a good salmon and how big can they get.

If it weighed 7kg it would of beat every record that currently stands in wa.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

For Western Australian Salmon:
State Record is 7.42kg, caught in Bremer Bay
National Record is 9.4kg, caught in Edithburgh in South Australia.
Our Club record is 5.8kg and 83cm, so I have every reason to suspect an 87cm job would be every bit of 7kg

WAGFA and GFAA records
The current WAGFA and GFAA records are a 6.80kg fish caught on 3kg line, Yallingup, 2004.
The IGFA record is a 8.74kg fish caught in Australia in 1994.
Also bear in mind that for record purposes fish are measured to the tail fork, not the overall length.
For State and Australian records, the fish must be caught on a line class that is less than the weight of the fish.

The weighing may be wrong
Was using an old bath room scale wile holding it then subtracting my weight. But defiantly 87cm. Didn't have pics then so will post on a different forum.

good salmon if it is at
good salmon if it is at 7kg
but u often find them at 6kg and i have hooked and caught bigger, managed to get into a couple of 9kg+ down near esperance

if your catching them 9kg+ you might alswell take out the state record. You could really smash it if the records 7.4

Not sure about the weight, but from the pic you put up it was a good fish regardless.
