GPS module not responding help help some one please

Hi can any body please offer some advise on a problem I have.
Problem is, I have a Lowrance LCX 15 CI, half way home the warning message "GPS module is not responding" comes up on the screen.
The following actions have been carried out, all to no avail.

Power checked to unit 12.5 volts.

All connections unscrewed and checked for dirt, water or corrosion, all found to be ok. Nil dirt etc found.

Unit turned of and on a number of times, no effect.

All cables checked for cuts crimps nicks damage etc, nil found.

Unit stopped working after it had been working for approx. 90 min.

All other functions on head unit working as designed, sounder map, not navigation page message "GPS module not responding" stops this page from displaying navigation info.

All suggestions much appreciated, unit is approx. 11 years old but is in vg condition and well protected from environment.

Thanks in advance for help

Does it have an external aerial?

I use a different Lowrance unit but have recieved the same message before. I've narrowed it down to the external aerial cable having a kink in it. Shaking the cable makes it work for a while but the message returns. Its a back up unit so i havent bothered to try a new aerial as yet.

Plugging to module straight into the GPS then you will know if it is the cable, Spray connections with electrical contact cleaner, if it still doesnt work take it to Lowrance dealer Allboats or similar and plug it into a working module(antenna) to see if that is the problem. If it is be prepared to spend some money they aint cheap

If you are comming to Perth

If you are coming this way to Perth, you could plug it into my boat and know if the aerial is at fault.

YES!!!  Same thing happened to me.  If I put my head unit in mates boat it all works fine.

So, I bought a second hand antenna off of one of our site sponsors but it still doesn't work, so another bloody $100 gone.  I have actually sent the second hand antenna to Melb. with a mate.  hope he can get me some answers.
