great fight on the sol
had a great day sunday down at eagle bay....lots of people every where in every possible vantage spot close to the water...i found a spot on a rock away from everyone and waited patiently for the salmon to swim past...i only had my bream rod (no room in the car with 3 kids as well ) but i perservered by starting with just a twisty lure... a few schools swam past to no avail..they looked at it but didnt take it...i then changed to mulies and with great success...4 schools swam past in an hour and i had 4 hook ups....what fun it is with 2.7kg braid on the bream rod and the sol handled them with ease....each fish was back at the rock in 15min and it was hard on the hand holding the rod but well worth it....each fish was nice and fat...roughly 5 to 7 kg and full of life thinkin they could get away from me....hehehehehe....i recomend it to anyone to grab a small rod and put it to the test....mine certainly handled it great.....i got asked once why i paid nearly $500 for the set up and it was answered yesterday.....silenced the critics i reckon and i can go back and do it all again....hope everyone else had a good weekend......

Good work
Great stuff Vander, certainly enjoyable tackling salmon with the lighter gear. Really gives the fish a chance to show what they can do.
Any one handed pics?:)

eagle bay
yeh i fished eagle bay on saturday arvo, and saw salmon just free jumping out the back. we have daiwa sol 3000's and my cousin got spooled by something huge (yellowtail king) i rekon, we managed to land 4 salmon around the 5kg mark on metals but the sol handle them really well..good value for money those reels, spare spool and heaps of drag pressure
Cheers,
Sam
