Great white my arse, 3 foot whaler or a wobbygong at the most. Ahh gotta love the press, 2 metre great white would have taken the leg given the description of the fight

wobblies have teeth!
whos this idiot who thinks wobbies dont have teeth he needs to get his facts straight! - if he seen the wobbie jaws on the dash board of me ute he would think twice about saying that wobblies dont have teeth - im voting for wobbegong, grey nurse

yip I know all about Wobbie
yip I know all about Wobbie teeth lol.
caught one about three years back down at Hamlin bay from the beach and as it was a smallish one I decide to let it go, but the bugger turned on me in the shallow waters and tried to take my toes off. Wife fell over laughing on the beach with me doing tap dances around this 3 foot water-rat chasing me!
as for the attack, bite was not even bad! more likely something with smaller teeth, graynurse's have ragged teeth and leave a nasty flesh wound. more likely a small white tipped reef shark or something like that IMO. (oopsss just read further and seen it's Tommy Ruff...lol.. )

I can vouch for wobbies
I can vouch for wobbies having teeth. Was diving a few years back and had a couple of snorklers above me so deceided to grab a small wobby by the tail and pull it out of its hidy hole to show them. damm thing twisted around and grabbed my leg. Had a 7mm wettie on and the teeth just made it through leaving a row of pinpricks. That'l teach me.
Cheers

Let's face it
It should never have made the news. They must have been hard up for a story. Na, just sensationalising again.

yeah well, firstly if it was
yeah well, firstly if it was a great white it would have taken chunks out of his leg not just leaving lacerations. some people have realy no idea what shark is what and could only guess . i wouldnt have a clue on a lot of sharks but i doubt very much that that was a great white, maybe a wobby if he was so close to rocks he disturbed it

Good Ol' Channel Nine
Heard on ABC radio yesterday that Channel 9 had paid the "Victim" for the rights to the story, before even knowing the facts. So when on 9 news last night, geez they didn't half trump it up to get their moneys worth. When all along it was nothing but a few nicks. I've had tailor bites that bleed more.

ha, a 20kg nor wester would probably take a thumb of finger off, but would be a better story than a wobbie bite for sure

those damn wobbies
bend bend like a 12yo chinese gymnaust!
Normally you'd be safe holding a small sharks by the tail, I found out that is not always the case.....damn thing took a chomp on the hand that was holding its tail with - I was lucky to get my hand out as I have heard they can clamp down pretty good and be hard to remove (kinda like it locks its jaws?).
The wobbie may have won the battle, but I won the war when we deep fried that bastard and ate it with chips.
