Gummy Trouble
Submitted by metroLBfisher on Sat, 2012-06-30 15:11
Decided to comitt to a late night fish last night with a mate just off a metro beach south of the sound. Was due for a good session and last nights comittment definately payed off with three decent size gummy sharks, all within 1 and half hours.
Left with them still on the bite, but had enough to feed us and share with a few mates

Nice catch lads
The gummies good to eat? Do you let a mulie roll around in the surf or what works well? More questions, do you have to bleed a gummy before the kill? Nice work mate.

Nice Catch!!
Gummies are GREAT to eat!! We catch them on mulies or fillets of herring, salmon etc....Best of whipping off the head, fins, tail and gutting it before putting it in the esky...

cheers guys on the
cheers guys on the feedback.
haha snapper was keen to start eating them straight away! wish i had three hands for the photo, the mouth had to do..
Big, They are awsome eating fish i would almost rate them just as good as dhu's IMO. I use a 40 pound leader two snelled hooks with three glow beads above the top hook and i use a running sinker heavy enough just to hold the bottom.
Sussed out the way to hook them last night, they are very similar to mulloway in the fact they dont like tension so use a very light drag and wait until they pick up the bait and gain a little bit of speed then strike and you should hook them.
We were using scalies and yellow tail for bait. I know for a fact now that small blue mana crabs would work a treat found plenty of them in the guts and suprisingly found a small shovel nose shark in one of them !
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Jamie
