The spots would be worth more than the boat! Bet you'll be sad to see her go, but onto bigger things.

Just when ReLisa and I were starting something special.

" Baby please don't go, don't go "

Thank goodness I can type better than I can sing.

Good Luck with the sale Paul, Boats That Catch Fish like ReLisa are Very Rare Indeed.

if you had've switched off

Thu, 2012-05-03 21:31

if you had've switched off your motor whilst fishing couldve had 70% less hours on your motor for resale, seems silly.

not taking the piss just wondering why not turn it off?

Why!

Fri, 2012-05-04 01:15

I do the same as Paul, why stop start/ stop start/stop start etc which does more "wear & tear" to a motor.........especially when doing short or quick drifts over small lumps/ground etc!

Pauls boat is a great buy and as an owner of a Haines boat myself who ever buys this boat will get a great boat and package!

It sure looks a great boat i have a 5.8 Haines and would love a bigger one but dont have the readies. Ryan would you use a lot more fuel by leaving the engine going like that? I always thought it was a bit of a trade off between lots of starts or leaving it going.

not much at all!

Fri, 2012-05-04 14:42

You use bugger all fuel at idle especially with modern fourstrokes and if the drift is slow or I'm doing a long drift I will kill the motor!

These motors will do

Fri, 2012-05-04 15:03

These motors will do 3000hours if maintained ,You ask why leave the motor running because I hold on the spot no sea anchor and drift .Maybe why I get so many fish.?As for fuel a good run to 400m at 25 knots and idle all day ,moving around and back home total 90miles or more under 100lt depending on load.If I was turning the motor off I would be starting it 50 times some days.I guess the starter motor would have been replaced a couple of times by now. Great boat for some one..

Not really sure were you get

Fri, 2012-05-04 16:15

Not really sure were you get 300 hours form Paul. My boating experience would put them more likely to run for up to 6000 hours easy. Actually in the east many many of these do commercially as water taxis.

Hours really is only a indicator for servicing. I've seen engines that have only done a 100 or so and have issues. Even failed. The worst motors to sell are 5 year old that have less than 50 hours on the clock IMHO given 20 plus years of marine industry experience

Convinced me, i will be giving it a go next time for sure. Bloke that taught me to fish ( ex prawn trawler skipper) with decades of expierience did the same. I am just a bit lazy i guess. Dont think you will have any trouble selling this boat Paul if i had the cash it would be gone already. Good luck with sale.
