Hamelin Bay

I fished Hamelin Bay last weekend after a tip-off from my neighbour who fished it the weekend prior and reported some good sized fish.
We left early on Saturday morning and arrived there for about 9.30am to be greeted with drizzle and a moderate onshore breeze. We didn't have to drive too far to spot our first school, but they were nowhere within casting distance. We drove a little bit further up the beach and came across another school that were being harassed by dolphins and were within a good cast. Between the 3 of us we managed approximately 15 fish from this school with an average weight of about 6kgs. My first fish and consequently the biggest fish for the trip was a 82cm jobby that went a tad over 7kgs.
Sunday turned out to be a bit of a fizzer, as the schools were too far out, with only a few of fish landed in the morning before we had to make our way back to Perth. Tally for the brief trip was about 20 fish, all of very good size.
I would expect Easter to be quite productive down there, and wish everybody good luck!!!

I reckon it's going to be shoulder to shoulder down there this weekend. Good report, hopefully you've steered some people in the right direction.

Easter at Hamelin
Tim, I can only imagine what it will be like down there over the Easter break, there was already quite a few punters down there last weekend, but the weekend before hardly anybody apparently. The track in is also pretty rough, and that won't get any better with more traffic!!

good to see some salmon
good to see some salmon being landed down that way. hamelin bay was always a hot spot and a popular fishing location, with plenty of beach to fish along you can always get away from the crowds and go searching for another school

Anyone heading down there take it easy, im sure there will be many tangles, crossed lines, lost lures, and lost fish....
Lots of beach to explore down that way
Seems Hamelin bay gets more popular every year, maybe i should stop talking about it a bit :P
