Ah well I can think of plenty of other things you could have been doing on your Birtday but out fishing would be top of the list. Thanks for sharing a great day on the water.
Yeah we had to do it. I was getting withdrawl syptoms from not fishing last week so I buzzed Adam to see if he would deckie for me. I had no idea it was his birthday until after he said yes.
Anyway, whilst we didn't break any records and the fish just wouldn't co-operate, we did manage to get a feed between us. A nice little Dhuie around 5 or 6 kgs , a nice Pinkie around 67cm and a couple of huge Blackarse for Adam to join his little Pinkie and big Flathead.
We caught heaps of those bucket mouthed scorpion fish plus the odd wirra and parrot fish etc.
Beautiful weather for most of hte day but the seabreeze absolutely belted in.
Let me guess - Ads caught most of the red-scorpionfish :))))) But did he show you the trick I showed him on getting the hooks out??
Still by the photos and looks of the weather it was a good one and at least your not working.
Yep Im still up at Koolan, am here till the 25th I think. Hopefully the weather gods will finally play ball and give me some good weather, I have some gold spots at Two Rocks to have a crack on.
Thanks for the well wishes guys. Had an awesome day out on the water with Andy yesterday, even thou as Gully pointed out I am the scorpion cod master. First fish of the day and last fish of the day, sigh! The mouth grapple technique worked a treat Gully, I'm a convert.
As for super dhu, yes he eluded me again, but I am getting closer. Was snagged up on the bottom and finally freed it to find something monster still connected, got him off the bottom twice but he had other ideas. Definately one of the better bottom fish I had hooked in a while but could feel the hooks slipping everytime he dove for the bottom until Andy went for the video camera and bam, done. Oh well, still got some XOS blackass, a nice flatty and a harlequin, enough for a tasty feed or two.
Also got some good footage of Andy with his Pinky and Dhuie, Mindarie Mayhem 12 will be on its way soon. :)
Ah, he is gone on the next trip out off Two Rocks, just wait and see.
Gotta hope for good weather for the weekend I get back and out there we will go. Of course you will have to try to stay connected long enough to get it into the net :))) Otherwise I will have to catch it on your behalf, haha
For me, I really wanna catch my first billie in '07. We just got some new teasers including a Pakula witchdoctor and some nice pushers... really gonna put in a lot of hours next season for them.
I also want to Catch a Dampier GT on popper/lure. This one will be a lot harder, gotta spend a bit of time up on the northern end of Legendre Island I think.
