Help Monkey Mia Fishing Spots
Submitted by Barcrusher670 on Mon, 2021-04-19 18:27
Hi All
I'm stuck in Shark Bay. (
Terriable place to holiday NOT).
The winds are 26 knots so we want to try for a fish over at Monkey Mia, we have a boat can anyone point us in the right direction where we could find a few pinkies or spangles?
Tried straight only blowies.
Appreciate any tips

Old Pearl farm,
If you want Pinkies best to anchor over at the old Pearl farm preferably at sunrise or sunset
Float a couple of baits down and hold on
Otherwise you can get some nice Blacks and estuary cods floating through the first channel

First channel is around 8-10
First channel is around 8-10 m, there is no real structure, best to drift through these
They are literally right in front of the resort
The pearl farm is off to the left within 500m of the shoreline, depth is only about 4-5m

Cape Peron
Head up to Cape Peron and look around due east about 2nm of the cape then sound around, pinkies, blacks and cod
Be careful to go wide of the coast on way up and back to due shallow water off Herald Bight?

I am heading up in June and keen to see if I'll get away with launching my boat with a 2WD Triton at Monkey Mia as a backup if the winds aren't kind on the Denham side?

Seen 2wds launch/retrieve
Seen 2wds launch/retrieve there Jack.
Do get lots of sand over the ramp at times, but there is concrete underneath so I reckon you'll be OK.
