Help for the New Guy!
Hello All!
My name is Eddie and I've moved to Perth from the USA about a year ago. I was a keen freshwater fisherman in the US, but I'm slowly learning the ropes on the saltwater side.
I don't have a boat, but I've got a good mate that has a 6.5meter boat. He has mainly used as a pleasure-craft, but he's also interested in doing more fishing. So he's fairly competent with his boat, but knows little about fishing and nothing about where to go.
So this is where you come in! I'm sure I'll have plenty of more specific questions in the coming months, but for now:
What advice would you give for two newbies trying to break into shoreline and offshore fishing in WA? Let me hear your best tips, advice, and things to watch out for!
thanks in advance!

I would launch from Ocean
I would launch from Ocean Reef or Mindarie. Hillary,s is too over populated. Just head Nth West use a patanosta rig with braid line around structure at the 30 meter mark and if you are like me you will catch nothing !.
But its a start and you just keep leaning from there.
Good luck.

Welcome Eddie
I hear that 3 mile off Mindarie is a good place to try if the conditions are right.
You are just around the corner from me and very close to the Tackle Shop in Malaga. Pop in there and I am sure they can help you with some info.
Also the guys up at Compleat Angler in Joondalup (a fishwrecked sponsor) are not far away and they always have some great advice.
If you are interested in some landbasad advice for north of the river, let me know and I will see if I can help.
Apart from that, there are some really helpful people on this site with some great knowledge.
Just put up some specific questions and I am sure they will try and help you out.
Good luck
