...another reminder to keep the chain on until the boats in the water?
Mate of mine dropped his Haynes Hunter half way down Point Peron slipway last year - spoils the day just like that.. broke the skeg of a new Suzuki motor, but was repaired fairly quickly.. worst was is that he was on the boat and his wife was reversing into the water..Fakn funny, but not if it's your rig..
Looks like it sunk/ took on water with the rescue boat in the photo behind it and it seems to be sitting on the bottom! Either way not an ideal situation hope everything turns out okay for the bloke!
Hard way to learn a lesson about the virtues of the ol' safety chain but let's hope they also forgot to put the bungs in rather than copped a cracked hull. Horrid angle to launch the boat in any case.
You guys must've come in just two minutes before us. Sea Rescue guys said it was no bung. poor guys, everyone has done it but hopefully not to that extent.
Think they pumped out as much as they could and couldn't get it all the way up the trailer, towed it up half on and lashed down to drain it but blew atleast one tyre with all the weight on the rear axle hauling it out.
Really feel for the owner, not the best of things to have happen to your boat, and then have a tyre blow when recovering it. All boaties I suggest have had narrow escapes of one kind or another with their boats at recovery or launch.
hard lesson to learn--just because you can afford one, doesn't mean you are automatically clued up--and yes, I left a bung out, once--UB 19, you can see it through the rear access hatch, and I was able to plane it out. Now the last check before the boat backs down the ramp.

Bungs
What causes a boat to lean like that? Forgot the bungs?
A fish in the hand is worth 10 in the water!

Being an I/O wouldn't help.
Being an I/O wouldn't help. The engine probably had a saltwater bath.

Guess the tub weighs more
Guess the tub weighs more than 2.5T, but it wouldn't be the appropriate time to tell them they should think about a legal tow vehicle as well!
