Off HIllarys Today
I spent the morning aboard 'The Spaghetti Strainer' with Steve Mattaboni. The weather was perfect and it was a nice slow drift. First fish of the morning was Steve's Sambo on his Stradic 4000 and TwinCraft rod, went hard and was a great start.
Next fish on the boat was my biggest Baldie yet, pulled hard and am sure will taste great tonight.
After getting harrased by diving birds wanting our baits we bailed and headed out a touch further, this time it was my turn for a Sambo. Good fun on a Stella 6000 and Deep Jig 200.
The bites started to slow and wind picked up so me moved to give our first spot a try on the way home. Last drift was just set and with my bottom rig down i thought that I would drop down a whole driftbaited squid on my TwinPower and Viper. Packing the boat up I glanced to see the line ripping off my spool and flicked the bail arm over to be met with what we thought was another Sambo with how hard it went. Being a bit silly with this fish, it all got serious when below the boat appeared a nice hump headed Pinkie.
In total we landed 2 Samson fish, 1 Pink Snapper, 2 Baldchin Groper, 1 undersise Dhufish, 2 Blackarse released, 1 Shark, 2 Port Jacksons and 1 King George Whiting.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Depth range
We were stoked with it. We were fishing in the 40m range. Found heaps of schools of fish showing on the sounder but never really worked out what they were.

You guys had an excellent day
The Sambo on the 4000 Stradic was a pretty good effort and to top it off with a nice baldie and Pinky, that's terrific.
